     Utilizing over thirty years of experience in the development of commercial and residential properties, James A. Hughes started Bellerive Development Company in 1992 as a way to develop, lease and manage his numerous projects. Since its inception, Bellerive Development Company and its various entities have developed over five million square feet of retail space with a value in excess of Five Hundred Million Dollars.

     Office related projects have included single tenant offices, branch banks and multiple tenant office park buildings. As with the retail projects, Bellerive Development Company retains total responsibility for the development of a project from site acquisition to financing to design to construction and finally to building management.

     In addition to the Social Security Area Director’s Office for Kentucky, which is located in the Bellerive Corporate Headquarters in Nicholasville, Bellerive Development Company has also built and currently manages the GSA Buildings in Danville and Owensboro, Kentucky.

     Bellerive’s current project which continues to thrive is Brannon Crossing located in Nicholasville, Kentucky. This mixed-use center includes over 2,000,000 square feet of office, entertainment areas, restaurants, residential and retail space. When completed, the cost of this mixed-use project will be approximately $300,000,000.00.

     Soon to be under development and construction is the newest project under James Hughes’ Bellerive flagship "The Village on Winthrop" located at the corner of Man O’War Boulevard and Winthrop Drive in Lexington, Kentucky. This new multi-story mixed-use venture will have 97,000 square feet of retail space and professional office space, as well as 164 second and third floor residential units sitting atop the ground floor retail and office space.

     With the continued success of Bellerive Development Company, James A. Hughes continues to seek out premier sites in order to build quality locations for office and retail centers.
